"Absorba-Cide" is the finest grade of diatomaceous earth produced by Mount Sylvia mines near Gatton, Queensland (www.mtsylvia.com.au). Recent field trials have demonstrated that "Absorba-Cide" is highly effective in controlling red mite in poultry sheds. By simply sprinkling the fine powder around the areas that the mites are known to hide during the day (nest boxes, perches, timber frames) the mites are killed by a combination of  dehydration and physical abrasion caused by the ultra fine silicate particles. It is BFA certified as an organic product.

NOTE:   Whilst not a chemical, "Absorba-Cide" is a very fine powder, and appropriate breathing and hand protection should be used to prevent possible irritation.
