WORLD’S POULTRY CONGRESS 2008
The year 2008 looks like being the biggest year in the poultry world in Australia since 1962. That was the last time the Congress was in Australia. The World’s top poultry scientists, administrators, farmers, teachers and support companies will all gather to show off the latest in knowledge and technology, as well as debate the state of the industry and the way of the future. The Congress Committee are expecting over 3000 international delegates, hundreds of Australian Scientists, 600 Australian Farmers, and representatives of virtually every company involved in the poultry industry. Though the main thrust of the congress is the "industry: we have been able to form a sub committee, The Stud Breeders and Exhibitors Committee to facilitate involvement of small poultry keepers in the Congress.
I have been involved in the initial convening of this committee, and I have encouraged involvement of many of the leading figures from the poultry exhibition and breeding scene. We have been granted access to the worlds leading authorities on genetics and disease and we hope to confirm details of the speakers very soon.
In recent times I have sent an introductory letter to all the poultry clubs on my list. I am sure I have missed a few. Please ask at your club, and if I have not sent a letter please contact me so I can do so.
The Congress program is detailed on both the WPC and the Bellsouth websites, there is already much more information than can be included in this newsletter, and much more to come as the program is developed. May I encourage you to view the web site via this link. GO TO WPC2008 WEBSITE
If you are involved in the industry in free range or small production, I think a trip to the Trade expo will be a great experience, and much of the PIX farmers program will be of great value.
