THE 23RD WORLDS POULTRY CONGRESS
BRISBANE 2008

MEMORABILIA

We produced these medallions for several reasons.

We are unlikely to have another WPC in Australia, the first being in 1962, so it is appropriate to produce a memory item for this momentous occasion.

The Recognition of the Sponsors who make this event posible, and 100 Sponsors were presented with a boxed Sponsor medallion. In addition, all speakers who contributed their time to the Pure Breeds Workshop were presented with a Sponsors Medallion in recognition of that contribution.

The Recognition of the Delegates who have come from around the world to participate. Approximately 1500 delegates received Delegate medallions in velvetine bags as part of the registration package at the WPC.

The Recognition of the Trade Exhibitors who support the operations of the industry. Approximately 100 Trade Exhibitors received Exhibitor Medallions in velvetine bags.

The Recognition of the Pure Breeds as the source of the modern industry and the recognition of the involvement of the Pure Breeds Workshops in the Congress. This Medallion also represented an opportunity to involve the many pure breeders who were not able to participate in the Congress. Approximately 150 clubs received Medallions in velvetine bags as trophies celebrating the WPC. Sales of medallions also assisted in the funding of the Pure Breed Workshops at the WPC.

MEDALLION PRODUCTION
The Medallions were produced in Ballarat Victoria, and presented to the groups. The 4 different medallions all had the same front engraving of the poultry breeds, created by Andrew Borg, combining the sytles of 2 medallions from the 19th century in the heyday of the development of pure breeds. On the rear is the WPC emblem, designed by Bob Pym with the stylized presentation of the map of Australia as the head of the Chicken. The medallions also on the rear had different type for each of the 4 industry groups. The Medallions were cast in 2 different styles, Florintine Bronze and Antique Silver, the silver being the medium for the Sponsors medallions. The boxes were made by a craftsman in Belgrave South from an old weathered pine. The Boxes were embossed by hand with gold stamping of the WPC symbol. The certificates tell the story of the development of the medallions and also carry a gold emossed logo of the WPC.

Some Medallions are available for sale. Call first to check availability.
